Functions of the Office of the General Inspector

Manages the Inspection Reform Program

The Office of the General Inspector manages the inspection reform program in the Republic of Kosovo to ensure in having an inclusive system that is easily implemented.

Supports Ministries, Municipalities, and Agencies

The Office of the General Inspector provides support to relevant ministries, municipalities, executive agencies, and regulatory agencies in overseeing the performance of inspection bodies under their supervision.

Coordinates and Supports Inspection Activities

The Office of the General Inspector coordinates and supports the activities of inspection bodies, with the aim of reducing the administrative burden on the inspection subjects, and facilitating joint field inspections when necessary.

Provides Professional Opinions on Inspection Plans

The Office of the General Inspector provides professional opinions on annual plans adopted by the respective ministries or municipalities, for inspection bodies.

Develops Methodologies and Guidelines

The Office of the General Inspector drafts and approves guidelines and methodologies for risk assessment, inspection planning, coordination, documentation, and reporting on the inspection process.

Setts Performance Indicators

The Office of the General Inspector approves general guidelines for performance indicators for inspection activities that measure their effectiveness.

Prepares the Annual Report

The Office of the General Inspector prepares the annual report on inspections conducted by all inspection bodies and submits it for approval to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

Provides Professional Opinions on Legislative Initiatives

The Office of the General Inspector issues professional opinions on any legislative and sub-legislative initiative in the field of inspections, according to the Law on Inspections.

Manages the Electronic Inspection Platform

The Office of the General Inspector creates and maintains the electronic inspection platform (e-Inspektimi), which facilitates planning, coordination, information exchange among inspection bodies, and public information.

Maintains the List of Inspectors and Inspection Bodies

The Office of the General Inspector updates and publishes the lists of all inspectors and maintains the register of inspection bodies in the Republic of Kosovo, in accordance with existing legislation.

Supports Coordination with Independent Inspection Bodies

The Office of the General Inspector supports the work of inspection bodies outside of state administration and municipal level, and cooperates with them to ensure better coordination of activities in the field of inspections.

Dialogues with Stakeholders

To fulfill its mission, the Office of the General Inspector communicates with all relevant stakeholders involved in the inspection process.
