Law Nr.08/L-067 for Inspections plays a crucial role in establishing the principles of inspections, organizing the inspecting authorities, and setting the rules for coordination and inspection procedures. The Office of the General Inspector holds a key position under this law, coordinating the inspecting authorities within the state administration and municipal administration.
The Law on Inspections applies to all inspection activities conducted by the state and municipal administrations in the Republic of Kosovo with the following exceptions: Customs and tax inspection; Inspections for the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing; Internal inspections of an administrative character in the State and Municipal Administration; Inspections by the Police Inspectorate; Public safety inspections within the ministry responsible for internal affairs.
In certain fields, there may be special laws that have unique provisions for different aspects of the inspection procedure. These special laws need to not only adhere to the general principles of the Law on Inspections, but they should also not compromise the protection of legal rights and interests of inspected subjects.
In the absence of a special law, the provisions of the Law on Inspections are applied. Procedural issues related to inspections that are not directly addressed in this law follow the guidelines established by the Law on General Administrative Procedure.
